The Las Cruces Free Methodist Church seems to have disbanded around 1972. Their 1453 Pecos Street property was purchased by the Missionary Bible Chapel in 1971, which became the First Evangelical Free Church which currently owns this site. The Free Methodist denomination was founded in 1860. Congregations that were expelled from the Methodist Episcopal Church in western New York state and Illinois comprised its first adherents. Early leaders include B.T. Roberts, Loren Stiles, Walter Sellew, John Wesley Redfield and Wilson T. Hogue.
